Frequently Asked Questions
How long do evaluations take?
All assessments include a one-hour clinical interview that can be conducted virtually prior to in-person testing. In-person testing can take between two and six hours. Clients may complete standardized cognitive and academic testing, curriculum-based measures, and questionnaires. Caregivers will be sent additional surveys to be completed at their leisure before their in-person appointment. Approximately two weeks after testing, we will meet for a one-hour virtual feedback appointment where we review the psychological report, diagnoses, and recommendations.

Behavioral assessments in the school setting usually take longer, as we will work with the school to obtain permission to observe your child in school and coordinate observation times as necessary. In general, it takes approximately thirty days to complete a school-based behavioral assessment once proper permissions are in place.

Can you see clients via telehealth?
This depends on the type of assessment. Some assessments for children and young adults (e.g., autism, ADHD) can be completed remotely (i.e., via telehealth) so long as there is someone knowledgeable about the client's development (e.g., a parent or caregiver, or someone who knew the client as a child). Standardized individual testing such as IQ/cognitive or achievement testing must be completed in person.

Do you accept insurance?
No, we see clients on a private-pay basis and are considered out-of-network for all insurance providers. Fees vary depending on the type of evaluation and services rendered. An estimate of fees is provided prior to testing. Payment is accepted at the time of testing. Acceptable payments methods include cash or checks made payable to Oak View Psychological Services, PLLC.
